Omega means "last" in the Greek Language.

There is a storm coming. It's a storm unlike the world has ever seen before, or ever will again. It's the storm of all storms, and we (believers in Jesus) have the great honor of being trusted by God to live through it. And to rightly represent Him in the midst of the greatest turmoil the world has ever imagined. But we need to be ready. We need to be strong. We need to be prepared to not just survive these last moments of humanity, we need to be able to SURTHRIVE in it!

As I sit in my cozy, warm house, it's 12 below zero and a monster snowstorm is on its way. Normally, I don't do anything to prepare for storms. But this time, I'm determined to be ready. Yesterday would have been a better day to prepare as it was warmer, but I also have a problem with procrastination, so my punishment is fitting to have to get prepared in much more severe conditions.

In order to be ready, I'll need to get water from the spring in the next town over, gas up my car, charge the battery charger that charges other electronic devices, bring in wood for my wood stove, buy food for my pets and myself, and finally, I'll need to take a shower in case there is a prolonged time without power. Oh, and I need to call my elderly neighbor to offer my house as a place of refuge for her and her dog, Dingo. She depends on electricity for heat, so I've offered for them to come to my house should the electricity go out. In addition to the impending storm, we are at the darkest part of the year with sunrise at 7:41 and sunset at 4:15. Which is actually neither here nor there since there's not a lot of sunshine in the middle of a blizzard, anyway.

"They" have given this snowstorm a name, which is not normal, but I guess when a storm is this big, they do name them. This particular snowstorm is called Elliot. In Hebrew, the name Elliot means, "the Lord is my God," and in the Greek language it means, "My God is the Lord."

Just as we would prepare for a winter storm or a hurricane, so shall we prepare for the final storm of all time. And that's what this book is about. This handbook is not meant to help us avoid the coming storm, but to help us "weather" the storm of these final moments of the history of all things, and to do that with an attitude of confidence in the Lord as our God. As believers in Jesus Christ, we've already met our Maker, but are we prepared to be His witnesses to a world that doesn't even know that there is a storm coming, let alone that they need a Jesus to save them? And if we are willing to be His witnesses, what kind of witnesses is Jesus calling us to be?

Will we be panicky or peaceful, confused or clear-headed? Will we be chaotic with the rest of the world, or will we bring order to their chaos? Will we remain calm and trust God, or will we get angry, and throw tantrums because we, along with the world, don't understand why these things are happening?

I pray that this handbook is all that God intended it to be to equip believers to thrive in these final days.

We are the omega generation. We are the last generation of all humankind. There is no civilization that will exist after us. Let's finish well, and help others to do the same. Let's remain calm, and trust God. We are the Omega Generation.

Shalom,

Big D
